‘When the cat is away, the mice will play’

Is that how it goes? I’m not sure. My host parents went away for the night and the kids were at their grandparents. I was with Jacky boy (our cute dog) so I decided it would be awesome to just have a cosy, South African Christmas dinner.

I had all the time in the world so I set up the table all cutesy with the stuff I had on hand. I don’t think the photos did it justice. I made the house all cosy with a lot of candles, put music on and made dinner.

We had a roasted chicken, carrots and peas (Carrots and peas, carrots and peas! Where is that from? 10 points to you if you know) as well as a mashed potato bowl. Dessert was cupcakes that look like they were made by a 3 year old lol.

We sang a bunch of songs, overreacted and drank some wine. It was really nice just chilling and hosting a dinner. I am not very good at the whole ‘hosting’ thing so I am learning slowly and loving it!
