Everyone loves a little Netflix right? Well I do and I have been loving some really strange and funny shows right now. I never really watch a show other than to be entertained as I feel like there is enough drama in the world and I would much rather watch something that doesn’t require much brain power to follow.
I just finished re-watching Gilmore Girls and A year in the life which is Netflix’s original show that follows up on the Gilmore Girls 20 years later. I used to love The Gilmore Girls growing up so it was very nostalgic and I enjoyed it very much.
Brooklyn 99 – If you have not watched this then what the heck are you doing with your life? -I know; probably living it haha- but seriously, I really enjoyed the silliness of this show and how it tackles real life issues with comedic humour.
Orange is the New Black – To be very fair, the only reason why I started watching this is because it is filmed a couple minutes from where I lived in New York. It took me a while to get into because of the crudeness of it but the story line is pretty interesting and the acting is really good!
The Good Place – This is another show I recently binged. It completely strange; goofy and sometimes cringe. Did I like it? Every damn minute lol! I can’t talk about it much as it is so easy to spoil, but basically Eleanor Shellstrop died and landed in ‘the good place’ which she feels she does not belong in. It’s weird but so funny!
Jane the Virgin – I also re-watched this show as I did not really know where I ended it. Sadly it is coming to an end which is not something I am too happy about but did expect. If you don’t know about this show, basically Jane is artificially inseminated by accident with Rafael’s semen which is funny because it’s her boss. It’s a great show with its ups and downs. I will probably watch it for a third time at some point.
The last show I have finished watching recently is 13 Reasons why. The second season just came out and it was very interesting to say the least. I am glad that we have finally opened up the conversation on mental health awareness as well as suicide especially in mainstream media and having shows about it. I think that it is not really a realistic point of view on it and no, I am not saying that it’s completely wrong and they did not get anything right but it is slightly flawed. It has hit home as I have lost one of my best friend’s to suicide. Although hard to watch, I really think it is important to hear the message.
If you have any show recommendations, I would love to hear about them! Let me know in the comments.
