The hunt for a good cup of coffee has been on since I got to New York. What I have noticed is that there are a ton of artisanal coffee places in New York City but not too many in New York state which has been quite frustrating to say the least.
Gregory’s Coffee is the first coffee shop that came up when I scoured the internet for my coffee fix. There are a couple of things that I have noticed about Gregory’s Coffee- There are A LOT of them! Seriously though. There are 24 shops in Manhattan and Brooklyn combined. They are all quite close to each other which I don’t know how I feel about it but there is one near Penn Station which is the one I went to. The interior really got to me, it’s laid out quite nicely so you are able to do work as well as just enjoy a good coffee.
Whenever I order a flat white, I always high key judge you if you ask me ‘What size I want.’ A flat white is a double shot of espresso with about 150ml (5.3 ounces) of milk and if you ask me if I want a bigger size, you are giving me a latte which I am like why? I guess that is just a personal gripe of mine and I should be more considerate because truthfully, people don’t always geek out over coffee as much as I do which is okay.
When the barista asked me white size flat white I wanted, you should know how much it took me not to judge her and her abilities which is such a big flaw of mine and I need to work on but that is just besides the point. I did not have too much hope after that but I was praying that the bean would make up for it and believe me, it really did. The coffee was rich; creamy and yummy. Just as I like it. I decided that this would go on my saved places on google maps because it’s such a great alternative to Starbucks and their sub-par coffee which I don’t appreciate all the time.
With all that being said though, I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere which is so important because I love doing work at different coffee shops as well as just relaxing and people watching and it makes it so much more enjoyable if the place is a relaxed one.
